December 15, 2004 - '93 &'94 ODP CENTERS FOR 2004 - Announcement: Jacksonville will be hosting an ODP Center for 93 and 94 Calendar Year Players (Boys & Girls) for 2005. The Center's Director will be Jerry Riggs, Head Men's Soccer Coach Mt. Olive College. Additional info available HERE.

December 9, 2004 - SWSC SPRING 2005 REGISTRATION - Registration for the Spring 2005 season for youth Recreational leagues will be held on the following dates: January 8th from 10:00am-2:00pm and January 9th from 1:00-4:00pm at Blue Creek Elementary School. All new players must bring a copy of their birth certificate in order to register. Also we are asking that you bring a 12 pack of name brand can drink for the concession stand. A "printable" youth registration form is available on the FORMS page.

November 11, 2004 - SWSC CAMSL INDOOR SOCCER REGISTRATION - We will be having Indoor soccer registration for ages U7 - U8 boys and girls on November 15th from 5:00pm-6:00pm @ the Southwest Middle School concession stand. The U7 and U8 teams will play in the same league. ECSA will be handling the scheduling and games for CAMSL this year which will be played in January. Please complete a team roster form. Roster forms are available HERE(Microsoft Excel Format). Since all teams will not be registering for indoor soccer, individuals may sign up. These players will be placed on teams, if there are open spots available on teams in their age groups. The cost per registered NCYSA team is $150.00. Any player that didn't play in the Fall 2004 season will have to pay an additional $8.00 for insurance and registration fee with NCYSA. This must be paid before a team can register. November 5, 2004 - ECSA & CAMSL TOURNAMENT - Best of luck to all the SWSC teams that will be competing this weekend in the ECSA and CAMSL tournaments. All the teams have done exceptionally well this year and we as an organization are proud of all the teams accomplishments. The SWSC has several teams playing in the semi-finals and finals of the ECSA and CAMSL tournaments. Play hard, play to win and have fun doing it. Go Southwest!!!!!!!!!!!

October 26, 2004 - FALL CAMSL TOURNAMENT BRACKETS POSTED - The Fall 2004 CAMSL Tournament will be held on Oct. 30-31, with the finals on Nov. 6, 2004. Brackets have been posted in the CAMSL and Tournaments area.(updated 10/27)

October 26, 2004 - MOUNT OLIVE COLLEGE INDOOR TOURNAMENT - The 2004 Mount Olive College Indoor Soccer Tournament will be held on December 10-12, 2004. All information and registration forms are available on the ECSA web site.

October 15, 2004 - MIDDLE SCHOOL GAMES & SWSC PRACTICES - Listed below are the Southwest Middle School home football games. All SWSC teams that practice at the concession stand area soccer fields need to make arrangements to practice somewhere else or schedule your practice after 6:30pm. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

October 8, 2004 - THE SWSC SOCCER COMPLEX - The SWSC needs all volunteers to help out with the final stage of picking up roots off of the fields at the new soccer complex. The majority of the grading, irrigation and design layout of the fields are completed. Because we have games on Saturday, the only day available is Sunday, Oct. 10th. We need to have this completed by Monday so that we can proceed with the sprigging of the grass next week. All volunteers that have rakes and wheelbarrows please bring them with you to the new fields. We will start at 1:00pm and work until we have all the roots removed from the fields. We tried different pieces of equipment and the only thing that works is picking them up with your hands. Also, we would like to get some of this completed on Saturday, so any volunteers *kids included* that would like to, can also pick up roots on Saturday. The field closest to Spring Villa Dr. is the field that needs the most roots picked up. Please start on that field if you decide to go out on Saturday. If you don't have a wheelbarrow or rake just put the roots in piles and we will get them up later. I will stop by periodically during the day between games to see how things are going. So, everyone that can, come out and lets work together in building a soccer complex that all of us can be proud of in the Southwest community!!!

September 16, 2004 - SWSC UNIFORMS UPDATE - We are still waiting on the shipment of the remaining jerseys for the SWSC recreational uniforms. Due to the uncertainty of the shipment we went ahead and had Adidas print orange T-Shirts for all the remaining jerseys with logo and number so that every team would have the same uniform for this upcoming weekend. Each kid will be able to keep these T-Shirt jerseys compliments of Adidas. The jerseys can be picked up at the SWSC concession stand Friday Sept. 17th from 4:30-6:00pm. We ask that each team manager or coach pick up the uniforms for their teams. We will have the uniforms sorted by teams which will make the process so much easier. Uniforms will only be given to a team manager, coach or an appointed representative from the team. No individual jerseys will be handed out. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

September 8, 2004 - SWSC MICRO SCHEDULES POSTED - SWSC Micro League (U4, U5 & U6) Fall 2004 Schedules have been posted to the web site. All Schedules are available in the SCHEDULES area.

September 8, 2004 - RECREATIONAL & CHALLENGE UNIFORMS - SWSC Recreational and Challenge uniforms can be picked up at the SWSC concession stand Friday Sept. 10th from 4:30-6:00pm. We ask that each team manager or coach pick up the uniforms for their teams. We will have the uniforms sorted by teams which will make the process so much easier. Uniforms will only be given to a team manager, coach or an appointed representative from the team. No individual jerseys will be handed out. We are still in the process of filling orders due to the late response from several teams in turning in their orders by the date that was given to every SWSC team. We had originally planned on having uniforms out sooner, but we had so few orders by the "turn-in date" that we had to wait on sending our club order to Adidas.

September 8, 2004 - SEPT 9th SCHOOL GAMES & SWSC PRACTICES - There will be Southwest Middle School tournament games on Thursday, Sept. 9th. The SWSC fields located at the concession stand area will be closed until 6:30pm. Please make arrangements to practice somewhere else or change your practice time to 6:30pm. Sorry for any inconvience.

August 26, 2004 - IMPORTANT NOTICE - Per Onslow County Board of Education Policy. There is a "Tobacco Free" law that applies to all schools in Onslow County. No one is allowed to have any tobacco products on school premises. As soon as your vehicle enters school property you must refrain from any tobacco products. Thanks for abiding by the "Tobacco Free" law and we hope that everyone understands.

August 25, 2004 - RECREATIONAL UNIFORMS • UPDATE - All team managers need to turn in their uniform order sheets with the money at the SWSC concession stand this Thursday 5:30-6:30pm or Friday 5:00-6:00pm. The SWSC has to turn in all uniform orders to Adidas by Monday, August 30th to insure that they will be ready for the first games on September 11th. August 17, 2004 - U-14 GIRLS REC PLAYERS NEEDED - SWSC needs any U14 girls (12-13 yrs old) that are interested in playing on our U14 Recreational soccer team to contact Roger Carroll @ 389-5801. We have some roster spots available that we need to fill to complete this team.

August 10, 2004 - NEW RECREATIONAL UNIFORMS - The SWSC has changed the U7-U16 recreation jersey. The shorts will still be black and the socks orange. The new Adidas jersey must be ordered from the SWSC. The jersey orders will be taken at the first practice by the team manager or coach. The cost of the new adidas jersey will be $19.00 which includes tax.

August 10, 2004 - SWSC WORK DAY • AUGUST 28 - There will be a work day on Aug. 28th at the SWSC soccer fields from 9:00am - 1:00pm. We will be striping fields, filling in holes, and doing some cleaning to get ready for the fall season. Come out and be a part of this work day. Your time will be much apprecitated by the SWSC.

August 10, 2004 - LATE REGISTRATION FALL 2004 - Fall 2004 late registration will be Wednesday, August 11th @ Southwest Soccer Fields concession stand from 5:30-6:30pm. August 2, 2004 - SWSC FALL SEASON BEGINS SEPTEMBER 11 - SWSC Fall season will start September 11, 2004 for Recreational and Challenge soccer. Final registration is this Saturday Aug. 7th from 10-2pm @ Blue Creek Elementary. All SWSC teams will be submitted to ECSA on August 10th. July 2, 2004 - NEW REC UNIFORMS • TAKE THE SURVEY - The SWSC is entertaining the idea of changing our Recreation uniform for age groups U7-U16. We have two color combinations that we are considering: Orange jersey with Royal Blue shorts or Orange jersey with Black shorts. June 16, 2004 - COACHES • 'D' LICENSING COURSE - There will be a "D" License Certification Course for any coaches offered in July.

June 15, 2004 - THANKS & CONGRATULATIONS - Thanks to all the kids and parents that came out this past weekend for the SWSC Challenge tryouts. Congratulations to the kids that were selected. We encourage the kids that didn't make the selection to continue working hard to improve your soccer skill. We look forward to the upcoming season and working with each player. April 20, 2004 - IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS - On April 18, the soccer community lost one of North Carolina's best youth soccer players, Matt Helms, in a tragic bus accident while traveling with the '90 ODP team in Paris, France. Matt was a goalkeeper with OCSA Coastal Crew, the ODP team, and the Wilmington Hammerheads Super-Y team. Several others on the bus were seriously injured and we wish them a speedy recovery. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to all the players, families, coaches, friends and teammates in this time of loss and sorrow.

April 8, 2004 - SWSC CHALLENGE TRYOUTS - SWSC Challenge Tryouts will be held at the SWSC fields located at the concession stand on June 12. Girls tryouts will be from 9:00am-11:00am and the boys from 12:00pm-2:00pm. Tryout age groups will be U10-U14 for boys and U10-U16 for girls. April 8, 2004 - CONGRATULATIONS U6 TEAMS - Congratulation to the U6 Rockets for winning the gold medal and the U6 Bullets for winning the silver medal. Great job to all the teams that played in the U6 tournament. Have a good summer and we look forward to seeing you in the fall season.

April 8, 2004 - ELECTION NOTICE - Congratulations to Graham Carroll and Roger Carroll for being re-elected and Kim Lewellyn for being elected by the SWSC members to serve as officers on the SWSC Executive Board. Graham Carroll was re-elected to the position of Vice-President, Roger Carroll was re-elected to the position of Commissioner and Kim Lewellyn was elected to the position of Treasurer.

March 26, 2004 - U6 MICRO TOURNAMENT • APRIL 3&4 - U6 Micro Tournament will be April 3-4. The seeds will be out by Monday March 29th. The preliminary games will be Saturday and the Championship will be on Sunday April 4th. The Season has gone very well. The teams have improved so much from the Fall Season. Good luck to all the U-6 Teams.

March 26, 2004 - U5 FUN DAY • APRIL 3rd - The U5 Fun Day will be April 3rd. We will have an awards ceremony after each game and we will have cup cakes for the teams. Coaches can incorporate season parties this day or have it another date. Come out and watch the future superstars of the SWSC play soccer. March 22, 2004 - TRISTON HARTLEY - OUR THOUGHTS & PRAYERS - Triston Hartley is a player on the U-8 Rockets team. Triston, along with his father Kevin and mother Lori, have been an important part of Southwest Soccer Club the last several years. Prior to the start of the Spring Season, Triston experienced some health problems related to fluid on his brain. He has been through one procedure already in Chapel Hill and will be going through another one this week. Our thoughts and prayers will be with Triston and the Hartley Family.

March 17, 2004 - SPRING BREAK SOCCER CAMP UPDATE - The Mt. Olive College Soccer Camp session that was cancelled due to weather on Tuesday, March 16 has been re-scheduled for Friday, March 19 (same time, same place). Thanks.

February 27, 2004 - GAME CANCELLATIONS - All games being played @ SWSC are cancelled for Saturday, February 28. All U7 & U8 scheduled games for Sunday, Feb. 29 are still on as of today.
